About

I am a writer from the northern town of Sheffield. My first book ‘Touretti Spaghetti’ has just been released on Amazon. I know self publishing isn’t known to launch the careers of many authors, and certainly isn’t a get rich quick scheme. But after years of sending my work off to publishers and agents with little success, I figured it was time to take things into my own hands and get it out there. ‘Fifty shades of grey’ was discovered after initially being self-published, and look how that went. And that was crap, so it gives a ray of hope to all other self-publishers like myself.

The book is about a boy called Adam who has Tourette’s syndrome. It follows him through ten years of his life, and sees how he overcomes the things that stop him getting the ‘normal’ life he craves. It has been a labour of love and the product of many years work. Not knowing all that much about self publishing process, it took me a while to get it out there. Now I have a bit more experience, I am not far from bringing out book number two ‘In Quicksand’, which will hopefully be out by the end of the year.

I am also a writer for online culture magazine Backseat Mafia, where I review albums, gigs, and talk about new bands. I often have bands contacting me asking if I will listen to their new songs and albums and write nice things about them. Putting a book out there kind of turns the tables. I am the hunter becoming the hunted. Now I am the one approaching book bloggers and asking them to say nice things about me. Writing is one of my greatest pleasures, but putting it out there is without doubt one of the scariest things I’ve ever done.

I am also a lover of swimming, climbing, cats (especially mine), music, street art, and books. ‘A Clockwork Orange,’ ‘Catcher In The Rye,’ and ‘Less Than Zero’ are my all time favourites.

This blog will mainly be about writing and my journey from sitting in my pants tapping on my laptop, to publishing and trying to get my stuff read. There will no doubt be a few little personal anecdotes and maybe a few crazy cat videos (or maybe not).
